All the members of the allCREATURES Family
Benjamin A. Otten, DVM - Senior Staff Veterinarian and Medical Director
Dr. Otten started allCREATURES in 2010 after of working in the Bay Area for over 10 years and realizing that the El Cerrito area needed a good solid veterinary clinic that would also provide care for exotic pets. He moved to Berkeley in 2001 from NYC where he had just finished a residency in Exotic Pet Medicine at The Animal Medical Center. Dr Otten has always wanted to be a veterinarian and have his own practice starting allCREATURES is a culmination of this goal. When he is not working at the clinic; either helping pets or reinvigorating the building, Dr. Otten and his 2 and 4 legged family can often be found enjoying a hiking trail in Tilden, throwing a ball at Point Isabel or helping his daughter with her Martial Arts training.
Victoria Brovont, DVM - Staff Veterinarian
Dr. Bovont has always had a love for animals. Dr. Brovont finished her veterinary schooling in the mid-west, but she is a Bay Area native who lives right down the street right here in sunny Richmond. She was commuting to a practice in Fremont before we found her. Dr. Brovont has a keen interest in all things eye related and she has done additional training to further her knowledge in this area. When not at allCREATURES you can either find her riding her horse in the lovely Napa hills, or spending time with her significant other, Kevin and their son Ben. (the youngest addition to the allCREATURES family.)
Crystal Pollard, Technician and Team Leader
Crystal is our lead technician and she makes the place go, but her true love is cleaning really dirty pet teeth. So if you don't see her when you come in, its probably because she is helping polish up a fur baby's white chompers! She grew up around many different pets, and knew this is what she wanted to do. She has been a technician for 11yrs. Crystal loves all animals, you can tell by the 5 dogs, and other exotic pets that she has; but her one true love is horses. So almost every night and weekend you can find her at the barn caring for her horses or going on a trail ride!
Roxanne Seraphin, Front Desk Lead Staff
Roxanne has been a part of the allCREATURES family for years. She started with us as a client, back when she owned a thriving pet sitting and dog walking business. Thanks to her mom, Roxanne has had a love for animals all her life too; with Pit-bull type dogs holding a special place in her heart. Roxanne currently has 2 dogs, an elderly rescue cat from Berkeley Shelter and a very special little canine, Tilden, who she found wandering as a sick little puppy on a hiking trail in Tilden. After surviving Parvo and a ruptured disk in his back causing complete paralysis that required back surgery with only a 10% chance of ever walking again, we think this little guy should be called Lucky instead!
Amy Howell, Technician
Amy has always loved animals since a young age. So much that she attended special college to get a degree in veterinary technical nursing and she will be sitting for her National and State Boards and we know she will do it and become an RVT, a special class of veterinary technician that will allow her to do some procedures previously only reserved for veterinarians; like inducing anesthesia, placing casts and suturing up wounds and incisions ("ok Amy, you close, I am gonna go call the owner"). She has a huge interest in exotic pets which means Amy is super important here at allCREATURES. She has multiple pets of her own and plans to get more (We have heard rumors of snakes and rabbits). Besides her lovely daughter, Halen, Amy's biggest love are Boston Terriers.
Julie Villaflor, Technician
Like the rest of our technicians, Julie grew up loving animals, she started as a kennel assistant when she was 15 yrs old and has been working in the veterinary field ever since. Her own personal pets are 3 chihuahua mixes, and a beautiful saltwater tank.
Tracy Wilson, Veterinary Assistant
Tracy has grown up around veterinary medicine, her Aunt being a veterinarian and owning her own business. She loves all animals and is really happy to finally be doing what she really enjoys. She works extremely well with Cats, and has 2 cats of her own, Lester and Leroy, and just added a cattledog mix puppy, Lemmy to her furry family.
Gaby Benschop-Castaner, Front desk help and veterinary assistant
Gaby is a Richmond Native and has always loved animals. She is currently in school and on her way to becoming a veterinarian. While she finishes her necessary classes to get accepted to vet school, Gaby has become an integral part of the allCREATURES family. You can find Gaby all over the hospital, helping pets stay comfortable, to getting pet food to making sure you get the right medication refill for your pet. We love having Gaby on our staff.
Adam Sibler-Bicknell - Weekend Boarding Attendant and Physical Plant Assistant
Adam is an Oakland native and has been attending to the needs for peoples pets for years. Adam has been with allCREATURES since October 2010. Adam's care and compassion make him a great addition to our staff. You may never see Adam - but if your pet ever needs to stay overnight at our clinic you can be assured they met Adam and have had the best possible care.
Jessica S. Otten, CMT - Business Manager
Jessica is Dr. Otten's wife and life partner. In addition to running a thriving massage therapy practice of her own in Berkeley and making sure the whole family is running smoothly she handles all the business aspects of running the business side of owning a vet clinic so Dr. Otten can focus more of his attention on the patients and keeping up to date on new medical advances and products to help his patients.
Honorary and Emeritus allCREATURES family
Charlotte Laurel Otten - Publicist
Charlotte is Dr. Otten's daughter. She is a very avid reader and student at King Middle School in Berkeley and as student of the Ananda Martial Arts and Fitness Studio in Oakland she holds a junior black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and is working on earning a yellow belt in Hapkido. She is also a very accomplished actress at the CCC theater, right here in El Cerrito. These keep her pretty busy but occasionally she can be found organizing the books in the lobby, drawing drawing pictures of the fish in the tank or of peoples' pets. She is also responsible for her own version of the clinic newsletter, with exciting details; like new additions to the tank and national hug your cat day. Some day she would like to be a fashion designer, an artist and she is already an accomplished author with 3 books written and 3 more on the way - none in mass publication yet. She also has primary responsibility for care of the family's bird, Pete and less so the family canines: Buster Cracker Cheese Sock Eater and Penny Pig.
